Matt Scherer is the co-portfolio manager for CIBC’s International Growth investment strategy. This investment strategy has outperformed the MSCI ACWI index by over 250 basis points since inception (6/1/2007) on a net basis. Scherer will provide a macro view of global economy and investment environment and address key investment themes we see in the global market. He’ll provide insight into how CIBC assesses investment opportunities in both the developed international and emerging markets and in so doing, make the case for active management in international investing.
Matt Scherer is a portfolio manager and equities analyst for CIBC Private Wealth Management with more than 20 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Team Geneva Advisors, which became part of CIBC in 2017, he was a research analyst at Aragon Global LLC, where he worked as a consumer and business services analyst. Previously, he worked in London for Carlson Capital UK Ltd. as a research analyst covering European equities. He began his career with RBC Capital Markets as an associate analyst covering restaurants. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also studied at the London Business School. Scherer is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
